Happy Thanksgiving!
This is my favorite Thanksgiving hymn... it fills my heart these days... to hear the tune, click here...
"All People That On Earth Do Dwell"
All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice,
Him serve with fear, His praise forthtell,
Come ye before Him and rejoice.
The Lord ye know is God indeed,
Without our aid He did us make,
We are His folk, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.
O enter then His gates with praise,
Approach with joy His courts unto,
Praise, laud, and bless his name always,
For it is seemly for to do.
For why? The Lord our God is good,
His mercy is forever sure,
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.
Amen."
From Psalm 100, in the Genevan Psalter, 1551, sung to the tune of Old Hundredth
More thanks in my heart for...
30. a time set aside for remembering with gratitude...
31. Someone to thank...
32. Knowing that Someone...
33. Loved ones to feel thankful for and to experience gratitude with...
34. The smell of the holidays: candles burning, turkeys roasting, coffee brewing, bread baking...
35. The tastes of the holidays : the tang of cranberries, the sweetness of butter melting on the bread, the texture of the cornbread dressing, and the coolness of the sweet tea going down...
36. The sounds of the holidays: babies crying and cooing, little boys hollering and running, little girls asking to help cook, knives chopping and silverware clattering, ice clinking in the glasses, water running and rinsing, distracted and interrupted conversations between adults, lots of laughter, tableside prayers being said...
37. The feel of the holidays: Crisp weather outside, sunshine warming our skin, warm sweaters that often come off in the heat of the kitchen, baby skin on my lips and neck, wispy hair to stroke on the little heads under foot, hands to hold during prayer, goodbye hugs to be had, dough to be kneaded, turkeys to be tied, buttered and seasoned, potatoes to be peeled, hot water on my hands, cold tea in my glass...
38. The look of the holidays: tired mamas and daddies, excited toddlers, bewildered babies, amused pre-teens, all ears...colorful leaves, confused cooks, toys everywhere, candles burning, messy kitchens, dishes piled up and around, a laden table, desserts waiting to be enjoyed, happy faces, satisfied people...
39. The ability to feel, taste, smell, see, and enjoy...
40. Family to feel, taste, smell, see, and enjoy it all with.
Joining you today for all that we've been given. Happy Thanksgiving.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful day. I like that old hymn too and haven't heard it in some time.
Happy Thanksgiving to you Jennifer! I've missed you and your posts. We have so much to be thankful for----an attitude of gratitude not just for one day a year.
I'll miss the turkey and all the side fixings. :) No oven, remember? This is one holiday my children have no understanding or appreciation for. Eat a little turkey and pumpkin pie for me. :)
You've got a wonderful sensory experience going in #'s 30-40. You make it all sound so easy!
I love that hymn! Thanks for the link--I couldn't remember the melody!
I'm grateful to have been raised in a church with hymns... they're such good old friends now. (We usually attend a contemporary evening worship service at our current church.) All day, I've been humming "For the beauty of the earth..." We DID sing that one at church last Sunday night. :~D
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
"But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." - 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJ)
Happy Thanksgiving! Blessings to you and your family.
